Welcome

We know you have questions. Let's see if this will help!

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I start?

A lot of decisions go into making a successful event! Choosing the day of your wedding is usually the first step, but this is not always an easy choice.

Day

If there is a day that is special to you, you may only be interested in a venue and vendors that can be available on that particular day.

Venue

You may have a place that is special to you both. Or maybe one of you has a family tradition you'd like to honor. If the location for the event is the most important detail, let the venue availability help determine your date.

Vendor

You may know a particular vendor (photographer, caterer, etc) you want to work with. You can use their availability to guide you in choosing a day.

How does your pricing work?

Your packages say "start at" the pricing. What increases the price?

I rarely have events that increase the price. Generally, I will increase the price if you invite over 200 guests, have more than one day of festivities, have multiple locations, or if it is a destination wedding.

How do I choose a photographer?

Your photos represent the memories that you'll cherish forever. This is a big decision.

Price

Photography can be a big portion of your budget. You'll have to decide if this is where you can save money, or if you want to hire the best. Keep in mind, after the guests are gone and the flowers have dried, what you have left are the photos of your day.

Style

Photography is an art. Each artist has their own style. Be sure to look through their wedding portfolios to get a sense of their style.

Package

How many hours will they shoot? Does the fee include engagement photos? Do they hire a second shooter? Will they work with you on what shots are most important to you? What's their primary style? When will you get sneak peeks? When will you get the finished product? It's also important to check out their website and see what their photos look like. Photography is an art and they all do it a little differently.

Availability

Start by asking if they're available on your day. If you already have your heart set on a photographer, you may choose your event date based on their availability.

How do I serve meals at the reception?

Deciding on your event menu is a big part of the planning process. Don't forget to taste-test!

A Buffet Line

This tends to be the most popular dinner service. It allows for many choices, but also is less labor-intensive than other options. If you decide to have family provide the food, guests will probably serve themselves. If its catered, the caterers usually serve. This is something to ask about.

The Family Style

AKA Thanksgiving style. The food is in serving platters at each table. The guests serve themselves and pass the platters around to each other. This usually requires a couple people to be available to refill dishes as they get low. These can be family volunteers or hired wait staff.

A Plated Meal

This is considered “restaurant style” where every course is brought out by servers, on a plate for each guest. This option is usually the most expensive. Depending on your guest count, this option requires several wait staff to ensure guests are eating at the same time.

What are the best songs to get people dancing?

Getting the dance floor busy can be a challenge. It takes a good playlist! It may be a good idea to include a DJ in your budget.

Uptown Funk

by Mark Ronson - great beat for dancing that's sure to get people moving.

Fire Burning

by Sean Kingston - "Somebody call 911," great clubbing song.

Party in the USA

by Mylie Cyrus - this one may take a certain crowd, but I've seen it really work!

Galaxies

by Owl City, Adam Young - this is a great one for a younger crowd

You Shook Me All Night Long

by AC/DC

Boot Scootin Boogy

by Brooks & Dunn - this is a great one for anyone in your group that loves country.

What is the best first dance song?

Here are ten popular choices, in no particular order.

Baby, I’m dancing in the dark, with you between my arms / Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favorite song / When I saw you in that dress, looking so beautiful

A Thousand Years - Christina Perri

Found a home for my heart / Time stands still / And all along I believed I would find you

Thinking Out Loud - Ed Sheeran

I will be loving you 'til we're 70 / People fall in love in mysterious ways / Take me into your loving arms

Sweetest Devotion– Adele

I wasn't ready then, I'm ready now / There's something 'bout the way you love me that finally feels like home / The sweetest devotion I've known.

All of Me - John Legend

What would I do without your smart mouth / All of me loves all of you /  Love your curves and all your edges / You're my end and my beginning

Amazed - Lonestar

I can feel how much you love me / I'm so in love with you / You touch every place in my heart / Baby, I'm amazed by you

Have I told you lately that I love you / Have I told you there’s no one else above you / You fill my heart with gladness / Take away all my sadness / Ease my troubles, that’s what you do

Speechless – Dan + Shay

Starin’ at you, standin’ there, in that dress / What it’s doin’ to me, ain’t a secret / ‘Cause watchin’ you is all that I can do / I’m speechless

Better Half of Me - Tom Walker

You'll always be my number one / I'll finally see what it means to be complete / Anywhere with you, I'll call my home

Marry You - Bruno Mars

I think I wanna marry you / I'll go get a ring, let the choir bells sing / It's a beautiful night, we're looking for something dumb to do

Everything - Michael Buble

You're a falling star, you're the getaway car / It's you, it's you, you make me sing. You're every line, you're every word, you're everything
